Monthly Update - October 2026

The year is off to a fantastic start, and it has been wonderful to see so many acts of kindness, positivity, and leadership among our students. Students are staying organized, getting to classes on time, and developing positive work habits that are helping us get the school year off to a strong start. Thank you to everyone who has helped make the beginning of the school year such a success!

To kick off the school year, we have been focusing on the leadership topic of goal setting. We have been discussing what is wildly important—our WIGs (Wildly Important Goals)—for students to accomplish in both their personal and academic lives. Using the goals section of our weekly planners, students are setting goals, monitoring their progress, and making adjustments along the way. Our goal is to help students develop the skills and habits necessary to take ownership of their growth and success.

Five-week grades will be posted to SchoolTool on Tuesday, October 13. Families and students will be able to view progress reports in SchoolTool after 4:00 p.m. that day. If you need assistance accessing the report, please visit the Directions tab on our middle school website. We encourage families to take some time to review the report together and talk about your child’s progress. This is a great opportunity to celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and set goals for the weeks ahead.

Students, remember that Quarter 1 ends on November 13, so now is the perfect time to set goals, stay focused, and finish strong! As a reminder, our staff will also be making five-week phone calls to families during the week of October 12.

Each week, we monitor daily student attendance and missing assignments so that we can identify students who may need additional support. We track students who have no missing assignments, students who have fewer than five missing assignments, and students who have more than ten. We started the year strong, but over the last week, we have seen an increase in the number of students who are falling behind on assignments.

Families can help by checking the Assignments tab in the SchoolTool Parent Portal to see if anything is missing. If students need additional support in a particular subject, they can also sign up to work with that teacher during our Forks Focus Remedial Time each day. We want students to know that asking for help is a sign of responsibility and a positive step toward reaching their goals.

As we move through October, let’s continue to keep a positive and kind spirit alive throughout our building. Keep smiling, Forks Nation, and continue to be positive leaders—lifting others up, giving your best effort, and inspiring those around you every day!
